About Bianka

Community-Rooted Leadership

Bianka Emerson, JD, is a Denver native and political strategist with nearly two decades of experience winning campaigns and building coalitions across Colorado. A graduate of Denver's Cherry Creek schools, Southern University, and law school in Phoenix, she brings both legal training and frontline organizing experience to public service.

I am running for RTD because transportation is not just about buses and trains—it is about access, equity, and opportunity. Transportation policy has never been neutral, and RTD leadership must be intentional, informed, and accountable.

As President of the Colorado Black Women for Political Action, a Governor Polis appointee to the Colorado Environmental Justice Advisory Board, and a Commissioner on the Black Coloradan Racial Equity Study Commission, Bianka has spent her career ensuring that policy works for communities that have historically been left behind.

"Transportation should connect communities, not displace them; it should expand opportunity, not deepen inequity."

Community Work

Rooted in Colorado Communities

For nearly two decades, Bianka has organized, advocated, and served — building power for communities that are too often left out of the decisions that shape their lives.

Colorado Black Women for Political Action
As President of CBWPA, Bianka leads policy advocacy and voter engagement for Colorado's Black women. Under her leadership the organization grew to 300+ members and earned the Colorado Black Roundtable's Fist of Freedom Award in 2023.
Environmental Justice Advisory Board
Appointed by Governor Polis to advise the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, Bianka has worked to center frontline communities in decisions around water safety, air quality, and lead pipe removal — translating advocacy into state policy.
Black Coloradan Racial Equity Study Commission
Named by the Colorado legislature to this commission in 2025, Bianka helps examine the systemic impacts of racism on Black Coloradans and shapes the policy recommendations that follow — bringing legal training and lived community knowledge to the table.

My Three Priorities

A clear agenda for District B — built around reliability, access, and affordability for every rider.

Priority 01

Reliable Transportation You Can Count On

Advocate for on-time service, cleaner stations, better routes, and more frequent buses and trains so residents in District B can depend on transit every day.

Priority 02

Accessible Service That Works for Everyone

Ensure buses, trains, and stations are safe and fully accessible for seniors, parents, people with disabilities, and every resident—because transit should work for all of us.

Priority 03

Affordable Transit for Every Family

Keep fares affordable and fight for discounted passes for students, seniors, working families, and people with disabilities—so no one is priced out of opportunity.

The Vision

Let's Build Bold Together

My candidacy is rooted in a clear belief: transportation should connect communities, not displace them; it should expand opportunity, not deepen inequity.

RTD must prioritize reliable service, community-informed planning, equitable investment, and transparency—especially in neighborhoods that have historically borne the costs of infrastructure decisions without receiving the benefits.
